Legislative Letter Writing

SHRM offers an online service at http://www.shrm.org/government/writecongress.asp that allows you to quickly and easily alert your legislators on issues that are important to you as an HR professional.

Be sure your elected officials know where you stand. You can write letters to both federal and state legislators. SHRM Governmental Affairs also offers information on current legislation that may be of interest to HR professionals or may have significant impact on the HR profession.

If you are not a SHRM member, you can find sample letters below on this page that can be copied and customized to fit your needs. If you email the representatives and copy TSHRM's president on the message, TSHRM can receive credit for your message. Representatives' addresses, both local and federal, can be found on the North Carolina Government website at http://www.ncgov.com/1223,1223,Government_Officials,Government_Officials.html

If you are not sure who represents you, go to this site http://www.ncleg.net/GIS/Representation/Who_Represents_Me/Who_Represents_Me.html.
