Have you ever wanted to serve on a Board of Directors or Leadership Team, but the positions available weren't quite the right fit?  Or, you felt like you didn't have the skills or time?  Well, TSHRM has some fresh changes coming for 2019!

We're exploding and stepping outside-of-the box.  YOU have the opportunity to create your own position!!  What are you passionate about? What drives you? What impact and legacy do you want to leave on the Triangle HR community at large?

The only requirements we have are to be: 1.) realistic about how your position will meet it's goals (e.g. lots of great ideas, but consider time and resources) and 2.) ready to commit to your passion (e.g. if the current Board approves, you're ready to hit the ground running)!

All sounds good?  Send us an email (president@tshrm.com) with the following:

  • How are you going to execute it

Cheers to renewed beginnings!!  We can’t wait to hear from you!

You Can Handle the Truth:  Military Culture and the case for hiring veterans

Thursday,May 23th

11:00am registration/lunch ~ 12:00pm program           Register now

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, around 20 million American men and women are veterans, accounting for about 8% of the adult civilian population. However, less than half of these veterans are employed in the civilian labor force. Veterans share a unique set of skills and experiences that could bring value to an organization and contribute to its success.

Although many companies are unaware of this untapped talent pool, others struggle to maintain their military hires or adequately acclimate them to the workplace. This panel discussion brings together experts on military transition, culture, hiring, and retention to explore key truths about veterans in the workplace.

Join us and discover:

·       Why veterans are in a good position to help your organization move forward

·       Ways to encourage a veteran-friendly culture at work

·       Lessons learned from other organizations who have hired and lost veteran employees

·       Strategies for supporting and helping acclimate veterans in their transition

·       Community resources available to companies regarding veteran hiring

We are excited to have our panel of speakers:

  • Randy Baker, Orion Talent
  • Paul Berry, USO of NC/NCServes Central Carolina
  • Eric Burgos, NC National Guard Employment and Education Center
  • James Simpson, Pike Electric
  • Kimberly Williams, NC4ME
