March Breakfast Chapter Meeting

Cultural Intelligence

in the Business Environment

Thursday,March 28th

8:00am registration/breakfast ~ 9:00am program

“The desire to treat other people with honor and respect doesn't automatically mean our behavior comes across as dignifying and kind. There are various adaptations necessary in order to ensure people experience respect and honor from us.” ― David Livermore

Understanding the impact of an individual's cultural background on their behavior is essential for effective business. Explore three essential dimensions of cultural business competence and how they can contribute to your organization’s success at Cultural Intelligence in the Business EnvironmentRegister here!

This one hour workshop is designed to give participants initial insight into eight essential dimensions of cultural business competence.  We will explore three of them within the context of a basic framework by which they can begin to think about their own culturally based perceptions and behaviors and recognize how those impact their success in the global business area.  During the training, we will compare and contrast prototypical profiles for various countries and examine several scenarios in which these essential dimensions come into play.

Action Items:

  • Reflect on situations, events, and projects that have occurred within their own organization, where a greater degree of Cultural Intelligence might have produced better results.
  • Become aware that Cultural Intelligence is a learned set of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes.
  • Examine the value to their organization of undertaking a program to increase Cultural Intelligence.
