If you’ve ever felt reluctant to circulate in a busy gathering of professionals, you’re not alone. Many people are shy, introverted, or both—despite appearances to the contrary. Others may attend business events without a clear strategy for making the most out of these valuable opportunities. Unfortunately, networking in the wrong places with the wrong people wastes time. And even when professionals are in the right place with the right people, they may not have a process for engaging in a way that allows for a successful conclusion.

Effective networking is a relevant skill for all who are currently employed as well as those who are in transition. Human resource professionals want to connect with the best and the brightest to help the organizations they represent move forward. Understanding how to develop successful relationships with these people is critical.

The good news is that everyone—including wallflowers—can grow and take advantage of new territory. In this lively session, we will explore ways to develop confidence and not waste time. We’ll also discuss some easy methods for overcoming overwhelm at larger business events.

Walk away with a better understanding of how to:

·        Set networking goals before the event

·        Feel comfortable while networking

·        Make the person you’re talking to the STAR

·        Cultivate strategic partnerships

·        Develop a follow-up system to increase network productivity
