Unconscious bias leads to stereotyping and the “ism’s” in our society and workplaces. These can manifest in individual and organizational interactions, impacting recruiting, retention & talent development, work assignments & teamwork, and sales/client interactions. As HR Leaders, how can we build steps to recognize and mitigate unconscious? This workshop will focus on the impact of unconscious bias and how to plan & take action to address it.

Stan C. Kimer is the founder and president of Total Engagement Consulting, as well as a National Diversity Council consultant and trainer. His areas of expertise include employee development, career mapping, workplace diversity (deep specialization in LGBT – Lesbian, Gay, Transgender), organizational effectiveness, and leadership development. Stan formed his own consultancy around these areas in 2010 following a 31-year diverse and multi-functional career at IBM as their Director of Global Sales Operations.
During his time on IBM’s Global Corporate Diversity staff, Stan led IBM into industry leadership in LGBT Diversity and established IBM’s procedures for supporting transgender employees and assisting with case management of employees undergoing gender transition while in the workplace. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BS in Management Science from Georgia Tech.
Since forming his own consulting practice, Stan has trained or spoken in over 75 venues reaching over 5,000 professionals across industries. He currently serves on the National Diversity Council’s DiversityFIRST Certification Program and has designed & facilitates their ERG Academy and Unconscious Bias training programs. In his spare time, Stan trains as a competitive adult figure skater.
