TSHRM Services

TSHRM chapter meetings are typically held on the fourth Thursday of the month and feature a presentation on a key HR topic. The chapter also sponsors workshops and seminars during the year to enhance professional development by covering HR issues with topics ranging from strategic HR to HR metrics, and from Legal Updates to hot Benefits topics.

The TSHRM website features upcoming chapter events, legislative updates, and information on other local HR-related meetings. TSHRM members can access an on-line membership directory in order to network and share ideas and they can also access the chapter's newsletter, The HR Times, which provides timely information about the chapter's activities and current HR issues. While members are encouraged to take full advantage of opportunities to network with professional colleagues, it is understood that direct business solicitation is unacceptable.

TSHRM's Certification Study Group assists HR professionals preparing for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certifications offered by both SHRM and the Human Resource Certification Institute. TSHRM's College Relations Director works to promote relationships between HR professionals and students interested in a career in Human Resources. Membership in TSHRM allows for valuable networking and knowledge building in HR.

Membership Qualifications

TSHRM is an equal opportunity organization without regard to race, creed, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation or age in connection with, but not limited to, membership, committee appointments, and candidates for office. All memberships are individual and not transferable.

TSHRM membership is available to individuals with a bona fide interest in the human resource management field. In general, this group includes human resources practitioners, faculty members of colleges and universities, and consultants or attorneys providing HR expertise to multiple clients.

There are no corporate or institutional memberships. Membership is on an individual basis and is not transferable.

All applications for membership are reviewed and must be approved by the TSHRM VP of Membership. You’ll receive a welcome email after your application has been approved and your payment has been received. Membership application approval may take up to two weeks to process. Please note that all members qualify for a $10.00 National SHRM Member Discount for denoting TSHRM as your primary chapter.

Dues & Meeting Fees

Eligibility for membership is subject to specific conditions listed in our Bylaws under the Membership Section.

Professional Member ($85.00)

Professional membership in TSHRM is available to individuals employed 50% of their time in the areas of personnel, human resources, or industrial relations.

Affiliate Member ($250.00)

An Affiliate Member is a member who is affiliated with a company which offers a HR-related service or product for profit such as relocation services, benefit plans, employment, background services, temporary placement, or legal services (other than Attorneys who provide legal counsel to employers on HR issues).

Associate Member Non-HR related professional ($85.00)

Individuals who do not meet the criteria for Professional or Affiliate membership but have a bona fide interest in HR management.

Student ($60.00)

Student members that are full-time university or college students (enrolled for 9 hours or more). A student member's status will convert to the appropriate membership category immediately upon graduation from school with all the associated rights and responsibilities applicable.

Student Members pay dues at a discounted rate to be determined by the TSHRM Board and are extended all courtesies of the Chapter.

Membership Dues

For new members joining TSHRM from July 1 through September 30th annual dues will be pro-rated to 50% of normal rates, and if the new member designates TSHRM as the primary chapter, they will receive a discount as defined by the Board of Directors.

For new members joining TSHRM after October 1st and through December 31st, the local dues for primary chapter designations will expire the following year on December 31st. Continuing members will be required to pay the regular price of dues until January 31st, after which time he/she will receive a past-due notice.

After January 31st, the member will be dropped from the roster and be ineligible for prorated dues within that same year unless a special offer is approved by the Board and advertised to former members who did not renew their TSHRM membership.

Continuing members will be required to pay the regular price of dues until February 28th, after which time he/she will be dropped from the roster. If a member rejoins TSHRM after February, they’ll pay the annual dues amount as our membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st. Annual dues for membership are set by the Board of Directors each calendar year.

Meeting Fees

The meeting fees cover the cost of the regular monthly meetings which includes meals, meeting space, speakers, and handouts (if applicable). Additional fees may apply for Master Series programs or special events.
